Details: St Austell is one of the County's largest towns. The Cornish china-clay industry around St Austell led to the location site of the world famous Eden project.

Today Cornwall still exports clay, which is also used to produce paint, paper and in some medicines.

The 15th century Holy Trinity Church is well worth a visit; with its unusual tower that is decorated with sculptured figures.

Wheal Martyn China Clay Heritage Centre - Wheal Martyn's is a beautiful site with woodland walks and spectacular views. There is an Historic Trail, Nature Trail, New Exhibitions; Cornwall's largest Water Wheel and an Audio Visual Show.

St. Austell Brewery Visitor Centre - Take a tour around Cornwall's oldest independent family brewery, established for over 140 years. Many original traditions and skills remain at the heart of the beers today. Follow the brewing process from row ingredients through to sampling the traditional ales.

Take a look round the Lost Gardens of Heligan, not far from St Austell. Visit the gardens and see the wonderous reconstruction of this lost paradise for plant enthusiasts.

Caerhays Castle Gardens - Caerhays is an informal 60 acre woodland garden overlooking the sea, created by J.C. Williams who sponsored plant hunting expeditions to China at the turn of the last century. The garden is noted for its camellias, magnolias, rhododendrons and oaks.

Pine Lodge Gardens - A 30 acre garden with shrubs, herbaceous plants, many water features, pinetum, arboretum, lake with black swans and ducks, Japanese garden under construction and rare plants from plant hunting expeditions.
